Indian Summer 30"X30" Oil on Gallery Wrapped Canvas, painted on the sides.

I do love the colors at this time of the year. When the sun shines on those leaves they shimmer.

Bouquets Revisited
Bouquet III 10X10 Acrylic on Gessoed Paper $100
I have decided to revisit my bouquet series. Most of the bouquets are created from imagination. I do also have some very good artificial flowers to draw on (so to speak) to see what combinations I can come up with. Flowers are wonderful because I don't have to name them and I can play with color and move things around at will. I can even tear up the paper and use that in another painting. That is the beauty of acrylic.
I do love my oil paints but every now and then I like to throw a tantrum of sporadic color to see what will happen.

Busy Sunday
Its been a very busy weekend. I like to post something to my blog so I thought you might enjoy this sketch. The sketch is done using crayons and watercolor pencils. I love the intense colors.
I used this sketch to do a small oil that I posted a little while ago. I am also working on a large 40"X 30" painting in this theme. We'll see how that goes.
Cheers

Early Morning
Early Morning 11X14 Oil on Canvas
$150
Its coming to that time again when the clouds and mist will roll in and cover the mountains. I do love all the seasons and am thankful for living in an area where there is differentiation between them.
This morning when I awoke at my usual hour it was dark for the first time this fall but the reflection of the morning light and the darkness of the house were such a beautiful contrast through the window that I went looking for crayons to record the color notes. So the challenge was to turn off the lights to look at what inspired me and then to turn the lights back on to grab the crayon. Then back off to make the notes on my paper. If the neighbours were watching they must of thought that I had a morris code going.
Happy Fall everyone.

Green Tea
Green Tea 10"X10" Acrylic on Gessoed Paper SOLD
I did this painting to enter into a show entitled "Beverages". I had thought it would be fun to play with abstracted compositions so I played the circles and squares off each other. I thought it to be a nice contrast.
I used to do a lot of this sort of thing and every now and then I think it is a good exercise to go back and revisit techniques and see how they may change.

Hillside
Hillside 10X8 Oil on Canvas $100
Instead of getting up in the morning and doing the daily sudoku puzzle I am now getting up and painting while the household is sleeping. It gives me an opportunity to look at what I've done the night before in a different light.
The photo of this painting is taken in morning sun. In the house the colors are richer.

Just for You
Just for You 12"X10" Acrylic on Canvas
I painted this one for my niece Alene. I had done a similar painting which she loved. It sold before we had the discussion so here it is on canvas.
I enjoy doing these. They are fun, bold free and loose. I actually sat in Marion's hospital room working on this for hours yesterday while she slept. I was scratching away at it and worried that it would bother her. When she was finally awake she told me it helped her to sleep. So there you go. Paint with purpose and love all in the mix.

Let the Sunshine in
L
Let the Sunshine In 8X10 Oil on Canvas $100
I am back to painting again and thought this painting was a cheerful start. I do love color, warmth and texture. This painting would fit a standard frame.
I have taken this time off to be with my best friend and painting buddy while she has been in 3 different hospitals. She is now in the very best of the three (Abbotsford Palliative care unit) and when I visit we sometime sit and paint and plan and scheme for more painting. I am putting the link to her blogspot here
marionrosefineart.blogspot.com if you wish to look at some of her fabulous work.
Marion's spirit and strength is a great inspiration to me and as we move through this journey together I am sure that I will learn and grow in leaps and bounds.
