Different Shades 9X12 Oil on wood panel

I am working on small samples to prepare for large canvases.  Received a big roll of primed canvas a few days ago.

Painting BIG has always been a dream.  Now I have one huge wall that is good side plywood that I will be able to staple canvas to and go at it.

I am excited to see what happens.

Enlighten

Enlighten  oil on panel  9x12

This image is from a meditation a week earlier.  I kept thinking that I didn't want to forget, didn't want to forget!  Probably not the best way to relax.

It is done on a wood panel that was treated and then coated with gesso.

Southern Exposure

Southern Exposure 11X14 Oil on Canvas

I decided to tackle a painting of buildings.  This one is from a trip to California with our Grandchildren Ocean and Damian, a few years ago.

It is mostly palette knife work.

Fantasy

Fantasy Oil on Gallery Wrapped Canvas 10X8

I was working on what I think was a technically difficult painting which I will do once in a while because I think it is a good idea.  It isn't really in my nature so after a certain amount of time I put it aside and grab a small canvas to put some paint on in a free flowing manner.  Today the result is this canvas which I call fantasy.

Back Roads

Backroads 20X16 Oil on Canvas

I am revisiting some old haunts trying to get "my groove back" as the saying goes.  I have always been fascinated with clouds and want to do a number of different cloud paintings.

Today the clouds are so low that when I look out the window I can not tell the difference between the water, the island and the sky.  It's all just pale white.  How do you paint that.  That's always the question.

Uprooted

Uprooted 12X12 Oil on canvas done with a palette knife

I am starting some of these paintings with a Notan done with black gesso.  I choose a few colors to work with and then let the painting speak to me.  It is very intuitive and often doesn't work.  When I start to see an image that in my mind resurrects a memory I tend to follow that direction.

This painting started with brushwork and then I switched to the palette knife.  I also used a comb for some different line effects.

Energy

Energy  Oil Painting by palette knife 12X12

Playing with my palette knives.  My studio isn't finished yet and I get very cold so the palette knives allow me to clean up quickly without having to use cold water.

I love the thick juicy paint.

Turmoil

Turmoil  12X12 Palette Knife, oil on canvas

So, here we go.  Slowly finding stuff.  Only some of my paints but enough for now.

I think the title is from my internal wish to know where all my supplies are and to have them put away so I know where I am at.  It is frustrating but so far I have worked around it.  I may be going out to buy a sketch book and a few other things if they don't show up soon.

Dreamscape and Happy New Year

Dreamscape 36X48 Oil on Canvas

We have moved to a wonderful place by the water.  My studio is almost finished (we ARE working on Powell River time) and I am having major computer issues which I hope to get help on today.  Fingers are crossed.

I have decided to do the 30 paintings in 30 days challenge which I hope to share with you.

The painting that is posted here is not a new one.  It is one of my first intuitive landscapes.  There was no plan and it came automatically.  Now that I will be painting with more frequency it is my plan to do more.  Just have to get my technology sorted so that I can share the process with you.

All the best.  Have a blessed day.

Good Morning

Good Morning!  Oil  16X20

And Good Morning to you.  I am playing with paint to see if I can still do it.  This big guy is done mostly with palette knives.  The paint is thick and the colors are bold.  Even though I don't typically paint this subject I am having fun playing and getting organized.

I haven't found my sketch books and many other things.  So, I use what I can find.

Cheers

Texada Oil on Canvas

Texada 8X10  Oil on Canvas

We have moved.  Two ferry rides north of Vancouver.  We are on the water and look at Texada Island from our living area.  To be here is an absolute dream come true.  We keep wondering when the holiday will end.  We are blessed.

This painting is my first time touching paint since August, so don't hold it against me.  The studio isn't finished yet but since we are on Powell River time I decided to start painting even though the windows aren't in and it does get cold. Hopefully they will come back in the New Year and finish.

Happy New Year to everyone.  Remember to hold that dream in your heart.  IT MAY COME TRUE.
