This canvas is many layers of splashes of transparent acrylic color.  Splashes, dots and rubbing alcohol. Between the layers I put a coat of medium so that I get a true view of the final result.

It is my wish that my paintings give the viewer a feel of joy in nature and life.

I am working out some of the intricacies of Encaustic.  Here I have inlaid a number of items that have significant meaning to me.

Its all a new venture.  One which I will continue into the year.

Sunlight

Sunlight  Encaustic on Cradle Panel 10X8  $120

With this piece I wanted to try using mat board that was glued onto the cradle board so that I would start with a white background.  I also wanted to start with watercolor image on the mat board prior to putting my first layer of wax on the board.  From there I added layers of india ink, wax, scratching, layers of cretacolor water soluble oil pens , lines and a few beads.

I think you can call this a true mixed media piece.

New Year

New Year 2016 Encaustic on Cradle Board 10X8  $120

Its a new year and I am playing.The mystique of the flowing melted wax is drawing me in. Being in Canada with most supplies coming from the US it seems an expensive venture at this point in time so I am working small and I search for various ways that this medium works.

There is no similarity to any of the other forms of art making that I have encountered and it is opening the door to so many possibilities.  I am looking forward to this venture and will continue to work in the other areas as well.

Isn't life interesting.
