Tourmaline shoreline 9x9 oil on Stone paper
I am posting this after a long absence. I am hoping to get back to normal soon and so I post this painting in anticipation of that.
This was done on Stone Paper and I used brayers to paint the whole thing. This was an idea of my friend Dawn Emerson. Bente - why don't you paint with a brayer? Sure. Why not. This one is pretty small but I thought I would give it a whirl.
For those of you that may know Dawn or took a workshop from her when she was in Abbotsford, you may be happy to know she has written a book. It is available for pre-order on Amazon.com. She has done some new videos too but I haven't heard who they will be available through.
Blessings to all for a great day.

Beacon
Beacon 22x28 Mixed Media on wood panel
Many times a painting takes on a life of its own and brings me to a memory of an impressionable time.
Its been many years since I last scuba dived. Under water the life is mysterious, flowing and the deeper you go the less light there is. As you float along and search through the crevices and plant life the light above is your beacon of the way home.
I believe that is the memory that this painting conjured up.
The painting is mostly oil and cold wax medium.
Blessings for a great day.

Mystery
Mystery 22x28 Mixed Media on Wood Substrate
This painting started out with many layers of acrylic, paper, gauze, tar gel, medium, etc. You get the idea. Layer over layer and then clear gesso to allow for the oil paint. From there I progressed to Cold Wax Medium with Oil Paint. It sat for a long time and this time I put a transparent layer of Indian Yellow (oil) with medium to connect everything.
It has a sense of mystery. Therefore the name.
Blessings for a great day.

Coastline
Coastline 9 1/2x14 on Terraskin Stone Paper $100
This painting is done on stone paper using mainly a brayer and palette knife. I am using the paper to see how large an image this will work on. A lot of artists use stone paper with Cold Wax. I thought I would try the paper with oil first.
I would suggest cutting the paper to a 9X12 and frame it in a standard size frame.

Sketch from Tofino
Star, our fur baby (see photo below) is sick. Kennel cough. So rather than go out to my studio to paint I am nearby to assist if he gets into a coughing spurt.
The sketch is a cluster of trees I kept coming back to.
Below, I put it through the Value Viewer app to show the grid for the painting layout. Next step is to decide on the colors. I think the blues and green with not so much orange and yellow. We will see once I get started the painting seems to talk to me and it could end up totally different. That's the beauty of it. A mystery and puzzle to solve.
Star finally sleeping after coughing all night. Turns out honey is a good suppressant. Wish I'd known that last night. I also bought some beef bouillon to put in his water so that he'll drink and not get dehydrated. Worked like a charm. So good to see him sleeping. Yes, that's our couch or should I say his couch!
Blessings for a great weekend.
