This is another painting from my workshop. In this one I was trying to abstract the scene as much as possible and still have a feel for where I was. The painting is in a high key. This will be the last one I show from this workshop.
I just got back from Cortes Island where I did a workshop with Bob and Sara Genn. We affectionately called it the Painting Goddesses Bootcamp. The weather was perfect and we were stretched out of our comfort zones. One of the exercises was to do a painting with only 37 strokes in about an hour.
"Oh Happy Day" 11"X 10" Acrylic on Gessoed Paper $100
Sometimes the titles of Paintings come to me in the title of songs that just pop up when I am painting. It happens quite often. Not planned. Just like the Tina Turner song will pop up in my head "I think I like it". That usually is a sign for me to STOP and look to see if the painting is finished.
I wanted to do some free movement paintings and Sunflowers was the theme I picked. The sun is shining - at last - and my friend is looking a lot better every day. Can't ask for much more.
Happy Dance Acrylic on Gessoed Arches Paper 11X15 $100
I went and saw my friend Marion in the hospital today. I was there when they removed two out of 6 tubes and so I did the happy dance for her since she isn't able to. We both grinned from ear to ear. Came home and did a happy painting for her.
This is a field study. Trying to get the distant mountains and trees against all the foreground green. So much green. I think I got the distance but I like a more cheerful color scheme. Hard to do when the weather is misty and grey.
