Teachers

Teachers 40"X30"  Oil on Canvas $1200

This is the second painting going to Vancouver.

The name of the painting is from a dear friend that taught me to be free to be myself.  I had struggled with the painting for so long then I went home, grabbed a huge almost whitewash type of brush and just gave her my all.  This was the result and I loved it, after struggling for almost a year on it.

My dear friend has since moved to California but I think of him a lot.

Now I am heading to New Mexico.  I will try to post as I am able.

Horizon

Horizon 36X48 Acrylic on Canvas  Mixed Media

This is a large piece and therefore it is difficult to see some of all the detail.  I have used decorative paper, many layers of transparent paint and texture to get the pebbly feel of a beach.

This painting and the one I am posting tomorrow will be going to the Federation Gallery in Vancouver for the show titled Canvas Unbound, meaning it is painted on the side and hung without a frame.

I am proud to be part of this.

This is all happening as I am heading for New Mexico to be part of the Intensive Self Study group.
I am also working on my part of a book that will be published about a largely Californian group of artists and "MOI"

In the Breeze

In The Breeze 11X14 Oil on Canvas  $150

Time to bring out the flowers and cheer.  These poppies blow in the breeze in the
summertime.  Most of the painting is done with a palette knife with thick juicy oil
paint.

I wish you a happy weekend.

Summer Storm

Summer Storm  14X22 Mixed Media on Paper

This painting is a combination of Watercolor and Acrylics.  I felt the watercolor pigments weren't strong enough so I threw in some Acrylic ink and Acrylic paint.

This painting is going into the Semiahmoo Show in May

Of the Coast

Of the Coast 10X10 Mixed Media on Paper

This painting consists mostly of torn paper and splashes of paint with transparent acrylic washes.  I have fun doing these since I have no control over where the paint goes when I use lots of water.  Then when it dries I build an image from there.  This is true creativity.

It is one of three paintings selected for the Semiahmoo Show of the Fraser Valley Chapter of the Federation of Canadian artists.  The show opens just as I am coming back from New Mexico.  I will post closer to the date. Would love to see you there.
Cheers
