Beacon

Beacon  22x28 Mixed Media on wood panel

Many times a painting takes on a life of its own and brings me to a memory of an impressionable time.

Its been many years since I last scuba dived.  Under water the life is mysterious, flowing and the deeper you go the less light there is.  As you float along and search through the crevices and plant life the light above is your beacon of the way home.

I believe that is the memory that this painting conjured up.

The painting is mostly oil and cold wax medium.

Blessings for a great day.

Mystery

Mystery  22x28 Mixed Media on Wood Substrate

This painting started out with many layers of acrylic, paper, gauze, tar gel, medium, etc.  You get the idea. Layer over layer and then clear gesso to allow for the oil paint.  From there I progressed to Cold Wax Medium with Oil Paint.  It sat for a long time and this time I put a transparent layer of Indian Yellow (oil) with medium to connect everything.

It has a sense of mystery. Therefore the name.

Blessings for a great day.
