What to do? It's storming outside and I can't open the windows. Acrylics aren't co-operating and I am out of ideas!!!!! Time to start ripping up paper, throw some paint around and see what happens.

I do LOVE my environment and surroundings and they keep showing up. I will not fight it. Therefore my title. Memory of the Coast. Left the Memory out.

I hope you like it. I am doing a series of these until the weather improves and by then I will have so many new ideas that who knows where it will go.

Mountain Light

We have been experiencing blizzards, power outages and unseasonably cold temperatures in the valley. Some winters we don't get any snow. With this in mind I thought it a good time to resivisit some vacation spots previously visited.

This is from a memory of an outcropping of trees on a very cold glacier lake in Jasper.

Continuing on the red theme I thought this one looked better with the turquoise for balance.

Challenge

Daily Paintworks put out a challenge to do a painting in tango red. The color closest to that that I could see is Napthol Red which I use a lot. I thought I'd do an abstract landscape for the challenge.

This whole painting was done in thick paint using a palette knife.

Freedom

This is my first large canvas for the year. I love the colors and freedom of movement.

In the Breeze

We haven't really had a winter in this part of the country so I am anticipating spring. I love the colors and playfulness of flowers in the breeze.

What do I start the New Year with when it is also my dear friend Marion's birthday? I inherited a bunch of photos and books from her and going through them brought back to mind many of my own pictures that I hadn't looked at for a while. This "Ewe" is one of many that we have in a field within our strata.

I like her and hope you do too. The painting is oil so be aware it takes a few days to dry before she can be shipped.
